I have been making visual art for as long as I can remember. Over time, it has grown into a meaningful and robust personal practice with occasional commissioned projects along the way.
In 2019, I independently produced my first solo art show featuring mostly texturized, colorful abstract acrylic paintings inspired by my passion for nature, creative process, character design and storytelling, and most of all a raw celebration of the empowering energy of self-expression.
In the early Spring of 2020, I expanded my art practice during the isolating months of the Covid-19 lockdown with a solitary deep-dive into paper cut-out and live-action stop-motion animation through a short-lived, self-produced absurdist online sketch series called QuaranTV!.
In 2022, I produced my first zine, Psychic Monsters - a macabre and whimsical catalog of challenging mental health experiences creatively reinterpreted as original, illustrated ‘monsters’, along with fantastical but raw written descriptions, and interwoven with honest reflections on the relationships between creativity, mental health, and wellness.
Ongoing work includes two long-term projects (alongside the continuous production of miscellaneous imagery):
Kill the Lich is a graphic novel in development since 2022 that follows the interconnecting paths of an assorted cast amidst the crumbling ruins of a war-torn city stricken by blood-thirsty, otherworldly invaders and 7 years of eclipse-induced darkness. This 50+page, hand-illustrated, pen-and-ink story explores the motivations, behaviors and choices made by individuals and collectives when faced with societal collapse, extinction, change, uncertainty, and shifting power dynamics.
Muay Thai Legends is a portrait series of famous Thai kickboxers, mostly from the 1970s-1990s ‘Golden Era’ of Muay Thai. This project arose in 2021 from my personal interest in Muay Thai and a desire to learn more about, commemorate, and support its icons and their legacies.
Finally, I am an enthusiastic photographer and documentarian of my surroundings. I especially enjoy photographing landscapes and slice-of-life, day-to-day shots of urban environments. Unsurprisingly, much of my photography features the neighborhoods and sights of San Francisco, but also includes scenes from my travels.
